Day 2
Breakfast at your hotel. Meet your guide for full day tour of Valletta – The Fortress City, Citta’ Umilissima, ‘a city built by gentlemen for gentlemen’. Malta’s capital city is a living, working city, the administrative and commercial heart of the Islands. It’s named after its founder, the respected Grand Master of the Order of St. John, Jean Parisot de la Valette. The magnificent fortress city grew on the arid rock of Mount Sceberras peninsula, which rises steeply from two deep harbours, Marsamxett and Grand Harbour. Started in 1566, Valletta was completed, with its impressive bastions, forts and cathedral, in the astonishingly short time of 15 years, even more remarkable is considering the fact that mechanical tools did not exist at the time and the whole city was built entirely by hand. Valletta has many titles, all recalling its rich historical past. It is the “modern” city built by the Knights of St John; a masterpiece of the Baroque; a European Art City and a World Heritage City. Today, it is one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world. Return to your hotel for overnight.

Day 3
Breakfast at your hotel. Full day South tour visiting the famous Blue Grotto (boat trip into the grottoes is weather dependant). Visit Hagar Qim prehistoric temple – one of Malta’s UNESCO-listed megalithic temples dating back to between 3600-3200BC. Later visit Marsaxlokk village famous for its big Sunday fish market and its many decorative ‘eyed’ painted boats called Luzzus. The name Marsaxlokk comes from the word ‘marsa’ which means port and the word ‘xlokk’ which means south in Maltese. Marsaxlokk has an old history dating back to the ninth century BC. It was in this bay that the first Phoenicians arriving in Malta landed and set up their businesses. Visit the Green Houses in the area producing herbs, salads and edible flowers. Return to your hotel for overnight.

Day 4
Breakfast at your hotel. Transfer to Cirkewwa Harbour to take the ferry to Gozo. They say that those who have never been to the Maltese Islands cannot perhaps fully appreciate what drew Ulysses here apart from the alluring nymph Calypso – for a seven-year hiatus. The island of Calypso which Homer referred to in his epic The Odyssey has been identified as Malta’s sister island, Gozo. Visit Ta’ Savina Creativity Centre and have the opportunity to watch the cooks baking local food.
The tour will then proceed to Victoria and Cittadella – walk through the streets of the old city and along the bastions from where there is a view of most of the island. You’ll then proceed to the Marsalforn Salt Pans to learn about the harvesting of salt in Gozo. Visit Ggantija Temples and Ta’ Kola Windmill in Xaghra. Return to your hotel for overnight.

Day 5
Breakfast at your hotel. This morning you’ll visit farming families in Mgarr specialising in greenhouse tomato production and also producing other traditional farmers’ delicacies in an artisan way. You’ll be taken on the premises where you can view the daily work of processing and packing. Then you’ll head to the wine cellar to learn about Maltese Wines and wine history. This will be followed with a local farmers lunch with ingredients of the farm’s products – everything served during lunch is produced by the farmer’s family except for bread and ice-cream. Unlimited wine and water are served during lunch.
Later you’ll visit the city of Mdina which dates back more than 4000 years. Lamp lit by night and referred to as ‘the silent city’, it is fascinating to visit for its timeless atmosphere as well as its cultural and religious treasures. It is one of Europe’s finest examples of an ancient walled city and extraordinary in its mix of medieval and Baroque architecture. Return to your hotel for overnight.

Day 6
Breakfast at your hotel. Today’s tour starts with a visit to Limestone Heritage – one of Malta’s oldest quarries which has been transformed into a tourist attraction. You’ll then proceed to a Sheep farm where you will be hosted by a farmer/agritechnician; you’ll have a hands-on experience making Gbejniet which are Maltese cheeselets.
In the afternoon, you will visit a Rabbit Farm again hosted by a farmer/agritechnician. The tour will end with a visit to Mosta Dome – one of the largest unsupported domes in the world. Overnight at your hotel.

Day 7
Breakfast at your hotel. Today you’ll visit Senglea Gardens and Belveder. Senglea is a fortified city watching out over the Grand Harbour and the Maltese capital Valletta. It belongs to an area in Malta known as the Three Cities. These three cities, Birgu, Cospicua, and Senglea, are famous for their massive fortifications. From there, it’s just a short walk across to Birgu – the most fortified of the three cities – to walk through the streets and along the bastions.
You’ll enjoy a short Grand Harbour tour on board Dghajsa (Maltese traditional boats) before returning to your hotel for overnight stay.
