Begin your journey with a visit to the In Flanders Field Museum, an interactive and moving introduction to the impact of the Great War, before checking into your accommodation. In the evening, attend the deeply moving Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate, where the fallen of World War I are remembered in a powerful daily tribute.

The following days allow students to step into history with visits to the Passchendaele Memorial Museum and the immersive Platoon Experience, where they will experience a soldier’s life through authentic uniforms, equipment and rations. Pay respects at Essex Farm Cemetery, where Lt-Col John McCrae wrote In Flanders Field, and explore the preserved trenches of the Sanctuary Wood Museum (Hill 62). Reflect at the Island of Ireland Peace Park, dedicated to Irish soldiers, before concluding at the Hooge Crater Museum, home to fascinating First World War artefacts. This itinerary offers a powerful and unforgettable insight into the human cost of the War.

Day 1: Flight , Flanders Field Museum & Last Post ceremony

Meet your GTI Travel representative at agreed check-in area at Dublin Airport

Board your flight and then meet your coach and transfer to Ypres

Visit the In Flanders Field Museum dedicated to the study of the consequences of The Great War

Transfer to your accommodation for check-in and Evening Meal

Attend the emotive Last Post at the Menin Gate – the traditional final salute to the fallen

Day 2: Passchendaele Memorial Museum, Platoon Experience & Evening meal

Breakfast at your hotel before transferring to visit the Passchendaele Memorial Museum to increase the students’ understanding of the happenings & effects of WWI

Follow in the footsteps of WWI soldiers on the Platoon Experience where the students are fully equipped as an Australian soldier for the day: uniform, equipment, rifle & meal

Evening Meal in local restaurant before transferring to your hotel

Day 3: Essex Farm Cemetery, Sanctuary Wood Museum, Ireland Peace Park Memorial, Hooge Crater Museum & Flight Home

Breakfast and check out of your hotel before visiting Essex Farm Cemetery where Lt-Col John McCrae wrote ‘In Flanders Field’

Visit the Sanctuary Wood Museum (Hill 62) –  one of the few places on Battlefields where an original trench layout can be seen

Visit the Island of Ireland Peace Park – a Memorial to the soldiers of Ireland who died, were wounded or are missing from WWI then visit the Hooge Crater Museum which contains a unique collection of First World War uniforms, displays & military artefacts

As your travel provided we aim to give you all of the essential information about your holiday before you agree to any contract. Information such as:

  • Where you are going and for how long
  • The costs involved for the holiday itself and payment schedule (if this applies), as well as any tax or compulsory charges
  • The mode of transport – this detail includes times, dates and places of departure and return
  • Where and what your accommodation is (for example, hotel, guesthouse), and how it complies with the law of the EU Member State in question
  • Cancellation details (for example, where a minimum take up is needed for a package holiday to come into being in the first place)
  • Itinerary of any excursions included
  • Any special or exceptional requirements, which you asked for and you and other parties to the contract have accepted
  • The complaints procedure to follow if we, as the travel organiser, do not carry out as part of our contract
  • Passport and any visa or health requirements
  • Whether insurance is compulsory as part of your package holiday and if so, the minimum level of cover needed

As this is an organised school tour, all relevant flight information will become available through your dedicated group/tour leader. Additional information will be detailed in your dedicated login area. Once the tour has been confirmed every person (on that tour) will be sent their own specific link to login to the GTI Tour Portal where you can access additional relevant information and pay for the trip.
