Travel from Dublin to Sofia and meet your local guide and coach on arrival. Begin with a fun interactive introduction to Bulgarian language culture and traditions, including games traditional finger food and an introduction to the Cyrillic alphabet. Students learn key phrases see how their names are written in Bulgarian and sample local specialities.

Explore the city with a guided tour of Sofia, discovering its history culture and key landmarks. Visit the National Opera and Ballet for an exclusive backstage tour, seeing costumes rehearsal spaces and how a professional theatre operates. This visit includes a special concert by young Bulgarian artists, giving students the chance to share musical experiences.

Visit the Thermal Baths of Sapareva Banya, a unique cultural and wellness experience. Take part in a traditional Bulgarian folk music and dance workshop, exploring regional music styles rhythms instruments vocal techniques and national costumes. Students will also learn basic folk dance steps. On the final day enjoy ice skating at an open air rink or free time for shopping before transferring to the airport for the return flight home.

Day 2: Breakfast, National Opera and Ballet, Guided Tour, Dinner & overnight

After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Sofia.

In the afternoon, continue to the National Opera and Ballet where you will be led on an exclusive, enlightening guided tour. Gain access to the theatre backstage area, see the costumes and intricacies behind the show, whilst being accompanied by an expert who will happily share their experiences and answer all your questions. Afterwards you will have the pleasure of a special concert of young artists and have the chance to exchange experiences.

In the afternoon you are welcomed to a workshop on traditional Bulgarian folk music and dance. In this workshop explore the seven different regions of Bulgarian traditional music, and learn about the unique rhythms, musical instruments and voices. Learn about the national costumes and traditional dress, and even have a go at the steps of the folk dances

As your travel provider, we aim to give you all of the essential information about your holiday before you agree to any contract. Information such as:

  • Where you are going and for how long
  • The costs involved for the holiday itself and payment schedule (if this applies), as well as any tax or compulsory charges
  • The mode of transport – this detail includes times, dates and places of departure and return
  • Where and what your accommodation is (for example, hotel, guesthouse), and how it complies with the law of the EU Member State in question
  • Cancellation details (for example, where a minimum take up is needed for a package holiday to come into being in the first place)
  • The itinerary of any excursions included
  • Any special or exceptional requirements, which you asked for and you and other parties to the contract have accepted
  • The complaints procedure to follow if we, as the travel organiser, do not carry out as part of our contract
  • Passport and any visa or health requirements
  • Whether insurance is compulsory as part of your package holiday and if so, the minimum level of cover needed

As this is an organised school tour, all relevant flight information will become available through your dedicated group/tour leader. Additional information will be detailed in your dedicated login area. Once the tour has been confirmed every person (on that tour) will be sent their own specific link to login to the GTI Tour Portal where you can access additional relevant information and pay for the trip.
