Bulgaria Geography School Tour - Vitosha Mountains, Golden Bridges rock formations, Saeva Dupka Cave and much more.
Enjoy a guided tour of Sofia, exploring key landmarks while learning about Bulgaria’s history geography and culture before transferring to your hotel for check in.
Travel to the Vitosha Mountains to visit the striking Golden Bridges rock formations, located 1,500 metres above sea level. These rare stone rivers stretch over 2 kilometres and were formed more than four million years ago, offering a clear insight into Bulgaria’s geological landscape. The day also includes a traditional Bulgarian folk music and dance workshop, introducing regional culture musical styles and national dress.
Continue exploring Bulgaria’s natural geography with visits to the dramatic Eyes of God Cave, known for its huge eye shaped openings, and Saeva Dupka Cave, famous for its vast chambers colourful formations and excellent acoustics. On the final day visit the Earth and People National Museum, one of the world’s largest mineralogical museums, before transferring to the airport for your return flight home.

Evening meal
After breakfast, your coach will take you to the Vitosha Mountains, where we will visit the “Golden Bridges” rock formations, located at 1500m above sea level, in the valley of the Vladaiska river. Studies suggest the rocks were formed over 4 million years ago! With rocks at 2m in diameter, in a formation that is 150m wide, over 2km long and even features “tributaries”, it is no wonder that the Golden Bridges are one of the most visited natural attractions on Vistosha mountain. You will spend the afternoon in a mountain hut and enjoy a delicious Bulgarian barbecue
Afterwards you are welcomed to a workshop on traditional Bulgarian folk music and dance. In this workshop explore the seven different regions of Bulgarian traditional music, and learn about the unique rhythms, musical instruments and voices. Learn about the national costumes and traditional dress, and even have a go at the steps of the folk dances
Dinner and overnight at your hotel
Breakfast in the hotel. Visit the natural formation ‘The Eyes of God’, which is also known as the longest cave passage in Bulgaria. Two huge, eye-shaped holes on the 60 metre high ceiling impress visitors.
Continue your day with a visit to the Saeva Dupka cave. The cave has naturally occurring 400 metre long corridors and halls and has been the venue of numerous choral music performances thanks to the excellent acoustic conditions. It is a fairytale world of stalagmites and stalactites of various shapes and sizes, painted in every possible shade and colour.
